Centered around the theme of human duality, the visual design for Jazeerabad's debut EP, Narcissus 01, blends organic imagery with fluid, molten textures in a stark crimson and obsidian palette. Built from initial hand-drawn sketches to digital rendering, 3D Blender mockups, and screen-printed merchandise, and packaging design, the project delivered a striking visual footprint that helped propel the EP and its singles to top spots on the New Zealand charts.

Challenge
Being Jazeerabad's debut EP, Narcissus 01 needed a strong visual presence capable of competing with prominent New Zealand metal acts, something that sets them apart from the artworks in the scene. I also had to effectively translate the album’s core theme- the duality of human nature- into a compelling visual concept.
Strategy
The concept for the artwork centered around juxtaposing the organic human form against inorganic fluids and molten metals by conceptualizing a head melting upward. I also had to plan a unified ecosystem across physical release formats, digital singles, band merchandise, and promotional photography.
Application
The illustration was digitally rendered in Procreate from initial paper sketches and color-refined in Adobe Photoshop. The custom CD case packaging was rendered using 3D mockup visuals built in Blender for presentation. The physical media included custom packaging design for CD cases integrated with custom band photography. The merchandise featured screen-printed t-shirt designs utilizing the primary album artwork. Variants of the artwork were developed specifically for singles ‘Unless You’re the Wind’ and ‘Swallow’.
Outcome
Debuted at #2 on the New Zealand Singles Chart for the main release.Reached #4 on the New Zealand Singles Chart for the second single.Established a cohesive brand identity across digital streaming, physical print, and merchandise.
