A character-driven illustration and apparel design system created for motocross rider Ezra Holmes to fund his overseas training in Georgia, USA. Playing on a lighthearted personal running joke - Ezra's outright aversion to wearing Crocs - the design features a stylized Croc shoe reimagined as a literal crocodile chomping down on a pair of motocross goggles.

Challenge
When Caleb Holmes approached us at Koarse graphics to create fundraising clothing for his son Ezra Holmes, the main challenge was to create a highly marketable apparel design that works as a day to day piece of clothing instead of announcing ‘fundraiser’. This design should also balance motocross culture with a lighthearted personal narrative to drive merchandise sales within the local community and supporter base.
Strategy
We conceptualized a humorous, memorable mascot design by merging Ezra’s known dislike of Crocs footwear with classic MX riding goggles. We also used his favorite training motto ‘trust the process’ as the tagline, thereby transforming a personal joke into a graphic that appeals to both direct supporters and general motocross enthusiasts.
Identity
The imagery used A ferocious Croc shoe hybrid complete with sharp teeth and predatory eyes, actively chewing on a pair of motocross goggles. This kept the underlying tone humorous, but overall delivered clean and exciting graphics.
Application
I used custom vector graphics that were initially hand-drawn and finalized in Adobe Illustrator. Koarse studio prepared print files optimized for textile screen printing and physical garment application.
Outcome
We successfully generated the required funding to send Ezra to his training program in Georgia. And Also created a popular, highly recognizable apparel piece worn by supporters throughout the regional motocross community.
